Fun little blog for family and friends to hear about our daily lives and what the kids and I do all day long. Also a place for me to complain if needed :)

Zach and his hospital stay
As many people already know Zach was admitted to the hospital Monday night around 6pm. On Sunday evening he started limping and we thought it was because of his eczema acting up and rubbing on his shorts. He then developed a fever that night and by Monday morning it was almost gone but he was complaining about his leg and saying he couldnt walk. So I thought it might be joint pain because that is something that occurs with eczema flare ups. So I took him to the convient care and I found out he had a infection in his leg. They did a culture and blood work and told me to make a appointment with his doctor.
Later that day I took him in to see our doctor and the doc told me that he had a infection and they should have just sent me to the er in the first place. So he called CDH and let them know what was going on and then gave Zach a antibiotic shot (apparently one of the most painful ones) right in his muscle and sent us on our way.
At the hospital Zach was not doing good. He looked so pitiful in his gown just laying in the bed.
We finally got admitted and moved to a room. They told me that they were probably going to have to cut his leg open the next day and drain the puss that had built up in it causing the pain. He passed out Monday night and on Tuesday the doc came and and explained the procedure they were going to do. I got to stay with him the whole time and since they drugged him up on Morphine and other pain meds he didnt feel the incision but he did feel them pushing on his leg.
Later that day his leg was feeling better and Ellie (aka Zachs wife to be) came to visit.
Last night he spiked a fever of 102.4 which was concerning but a little medicine and he was fever free the rest of the day. All the cultures came back as well so they know which antibiotics would work best. He was up and walking around more, still limping but FINALLY able to go to the playroom.
That cheered him up quite a bit. They wanted to keep him overnight again tonight but I was fighting against it. Since he was fever free and acting better and walking better they decided to let him be discharged and we were finally home at about 10pm tonight. He is restricted from doing any running or playing at parks for at least the next week and on medication for the next week as well 3 times a day. Hopefully everything will finish draining and he will heal up and be back to perfect soon!
Big thanks to everyone who helped with my other kids and also came and visited Zach and brought us food!
