Fun little blog for family and friends to hear about our daily lives and what the kids and I do all day long. Also a place for me to complain if needed :)

Memorial Weekend 2012
SO we have had a very busy memorial weekend this year. Alex has spent the weekend outside with his friends and sleeping at his friend Trevors house. On Sunday we headed to Aaron and Sarahs house with the little ones for some fun swimming in the pool and BBQing. And on Monday I took the little ones and met up with my friend Lisa and her son Colin at a splash park. Here are some pictures from the splashpark.

Weekend Away
So after a VERY long week last week Rob and I packed up and headed to Carbondale for the weekend, which also happened to be his birthday weekend. The grandparents and aunts/uncles were nice enough to watch the kids so we could have a adult weekend alone. I am a big believer that anyone with kids should try to do a weekend away at least once a year. We have been very lucky to be able to do this since Alex was first born. Usually we hit up Vegas for some craps and beers but this weekend was a little more low key.
Since we both went to SIU, Carbondale seemed like a perfect getaway. We havent been back in 6 years and its only about a 4.5 hour drive. SO we dropped the kiddies off Friday morning and made our way down. We had a nice dinner out at Quatros ( AWESOME PIZZA) friday night and went to a couple of our old bars for a few drinks.
Saturday we were up early and headed into Giant city to do some hiking.
We climbed the water tower which although it hurts your legs is worth the view. All you see is green trees for miles and miles. Then we headed out on a trail and had a nice morning walk. After that we decided to walk over to campus and walk around to see the changes they had made.
Besides moving the football field and getting rid of the parking garage by the student center campus looked the same. We walked around it for awhile. I do have to say i still love the campus. If you have never seen it you are missing a great campus full of trees and flowers and trails all over. After that we headed to the bookstore to get some SIU shirts for the kids ( gotta represent) and out for lunch, which was then followed by a nice long nap. Saturday night we met up with a old friend for dinner and then went to Pinch for a couple drinks. Overall it was a great and relaxing weekend. I can not wait to take all the kids down there once day.

Zach and his hospital stay
As many people already know Zach was admitted to the hospital Monday night around 6pm. On Sunday evening he started limping and we thought it was because of his eczema acting up and rubbing on his shorts. He then developed a fever that night and by Monday morning it was almost gone but he was complaining about his leg and saying he couldnt walk. So I thought it might be joint pain because that is something that occurs with eczema flare ups. So I took him to the convient care and I found out he had a infection in his leg. They did a culture and blood work and told me to make a appointment with his doctor.
Later that day I took him in to see our doctor and the doc told me that he had a infection and they should have just sent me to the er in the first place. So he called CDH and let them know what was going on and then gave Zach a antibiotic shot (apparently one of the most painful ones) right in his muscle and sent us on our way.
At the hospital Zach was not doing good. He looked so pitiful in his gown just laying in the bed.
We finally got admitted and moved to a room. They told me that they were probably going to have to cut his leg open the next day and drain the puss that had built up in it causing the pain. He passed out Monday night and on Tuesday the doc came and and explained the procedure they were going to do. I got to stay with him the whole time and since they drugged him up on Morphine and other pain meds he didnt feel the incision but he did feel them pushing on his leg.
Later that day his leg was feeling better and Ellie (aka Zachs wife to be) came to visit.
Last night he spiked a fever of 102.4 which was concerning but a little medicine and he was fever free the rest of the day. All the cultures came back as well so they know which antibiotics would work best. He was up and walking around more, still limping but FINALLY able to go to the playroom.
That cheered him up quite a bit. They wanted to keep him overnight again tonight but I was fighting against it. Since he was fever free and acting better and walking better they decided to let him be discharged and we were finally home at about 10pm tonight. He is restricted from doing any running or playing at parks for at least the next week and on medication for the next week as well 3 times a day. Hopefully everything will finish draining and he will heal up and be back to perfect soon!
Big thanks to everyone who helped with my other kids and also came and visited Zach and brought us food!

Alexs Birthday Parties
This post is a little late since his parties were in Marh and early April but I lost the cord to my camera and FINALLY was just able to upload the photos so here are a few pics. On his birthday we had a family party with a camping cake and a couple weeks later we had a little bowling party with some of his friends.

Poor Addie
So yesterday I got a call from daycare that Addie had gotten a cut on her head. Apparently som kid tried to pick her up and she was too heavy and he dropped her on her head on a Dora dollhouse. So I picked her up, left the boys at daycare and took her to CHD to see f she needed stiches. She was a tropper. She held monkey, let them clean the cut, and then glue it. She got a little upset when the glue started to sting but otherwise she was a rockstar. So we were in and out of the Er in about a hour!
Then on the way home she threw up in my car. And of course the first thing that goes through my mind is that that is a sign of a concussion. So I call the er and they say that once or twice is okay but any more than that and she needs to come back. Well she threw up a total of 6 times in my car by the time I made it back to the ER.
I called Rob and he met me there. She proceeded to throw up again while the doctor was in the room so they ordered a CT scan to check her out. She then threw up as the Ct scan nurse was walking into our room.
Once again she was a rockstar during this. SHe laid there and we were able to have monkey lay on top of her belly and Rob held her chin just to make sure she did not move her head. There is nothing sadder than watching your little baby get a CT scan and praying everything is okay.
Thankfully it came out negative. She was very BLAH the whole time we were in the hospital except for maybe the last 30 mins. They decided to give her a popscicle and see if she could hold it down. They said that they wanted to keep her overnight for observation unless we felt comfortable in bringing her home, which I did.
So after 5 hours in the hospital, my dad and our daycare lady April coming to check on her we were finally able to be discharged. Rob left to go get the boys from daycare and I headed home with Addie to get her in bed. Needless to say she was asleep within minutes and I checked on her thoughout the night and she was okay.
Today she is back to her usual spunky self but home with me so I can keep a eye on her. So we have a few errands to run and I am hoping for a nice long nap today because this mama is TIRED!!!! thanks to everyone for the well wishes!!!
