25 things

I read US weekly every week. And in it they always have a celebrity do 25 things you did not know about me. So today that will be my blog. Some of you might know these things. some of you might not, but here they are.

1.I am naturally a strawberry blond. Not a red-head, not auburn, but strawberry blond. And I will NEVER dye my hair!
2. If Alex or Zach had been a girl they would have been named Carly Elizabeth. By the time Addie came around I did not like that name anymore.
3. I predicted the sex of all 3 of my kids correctly by the time I was 5-6 weeks pregnant.
4.I love to cook and try new recipes. And I love to cook and bake with my kids.
5. I have been doing my own laundry since I was 11.
6. Even though I stay home with the kids I still have Rob do his own laundry.
6. I am addicted to chapstick. I always have some in my purse and constantly put it on.
7.I am glad I had boys first because I am NOT a classy lady and I pray Addelyn will not be a girly girl.
8. I will not let Addie be a cheerleader until she is in college... anytime before that it is stupid and NOT a sport
9.I have always thought it was stupid when people who are/were in high school would put drama or chorus on their letterman jacket.
10. I have been with Rob since 1999. Yeah we are old!I was 18 when we started dating and now I am 30!
11. I hate materialistic people. No one cares about your purse, shoes, clothes etc...
12. I am a big planner. Everything is written on my calender and I am obsessed with being on time.
13. Anytime Rob comes with us we are late. I can leave the house with 3 kids and be on time or early, but if Rob is there we are late... I will never understand it. :)
14.I am and always have been my parents favorite. If you do not believe me call my mom :)
15. Even though I am adopted I look more like my mom than my brother does. ( he is not adopted)
16.Rob and I love to travel together. Our favorite place is Vegas because we also love to gamble and drink. ( I know we are great parents right :) )
17.Zach has been in an arranged marriage since before he was born. Right now Elle ( future Mrs. Darrow) and him love each other but we will see what happens when they get older.
18. I have a twin. No we are not related but we could be... and every time we are together someone Always asked if we are related.
19. My twin and I were pregnant at the same time and would get the strangest looks when we were out together.
20. I find it funny that I am friends with people whom I hardly talked to or did not talk to in high school. Kids really do give you common ground.
21.I often wonder why I am not a doctor. I love medical shows.
22. I hate Oprah. And I hate that she bought Discovery Health channel and made it OWN. Now I can not watch all my medical shows.
23.I feel like my kids toys multiply over night.
24. I can not so laundry without losing at least 1 or 2 socks. I swear my washer or dryer eats them
25. I hate cleaning. I do it but I hate it. Although I love how the house looks when everything is picked up and put away.I would LOVE to have a maid.....maybe one day

Hello 3's... I have not missed you!

Well as many of you know Zach turned 3 last week. And we are slowly moving into the horrbile 3's. Everyone always warns new parents about the terrible 2's but 2's are nothing in my family. When Alex was 2 he was so well behaved my mom thought something was wrong with him. I mean don't get me wrong he had his moments, like all kids do, but they were very few and far between. And then he turned 3.And suddenly my sweet little boy was stubborn, and whiney, and defiant. I thought it would end at 4.... I was wrong. I thought it would end at 5... I was wrong again. But he has defiatly gotten better since starting kindergarten. He still has days where I swear he will drive me insane, but even those are becoming less and less.
As for Zach, my now 3 year old. He was like Alex. Piece of cake while he was 2, except for some normal kid moments. But now that he is 3 its like someone turned a switched and told him to act differently. He is getting more stubborn and will tell you exactly what he wants and if he doesn't get it ( which he never does if he is not behaving) he will let you know he is mad. He will cry, and scream and whine, which is all ignored by me. But after a few minutes he will just come and hug me and everything will be fine.
He is also boycotting his naps which has its pros and cons. FOr the most part he is okay without a nap, but by 5:30 or 6 at night he starts to fade, and he fades fast. CON! But on the up side he also goes to bed early and passes out the minute his head hits the pillow. PRO!!! I still put him in his room at nap and he will either play and read books or sleep, but he is in there for at least 1.5 hours. He might think since he is 3 he knows whats best, but trust me he doesn't. And even if he is playing at least he is by himself and somewhat getting "down time"
I wonder if in a couple years Addie will be following in her brothers foot steps or if she will be the first Darrow child to hit the terrible 2's. Although I can not imagine my sweet little Addie ever misbehaving ( yeah right I know).
I love my little troop but they keep me on my toes everyday. If one is crabby one day the next day someone else will be upset about something. As irriatating as it can be at times I know when they are all older and are professional athletes or doctors I will miss these times.Of course some days they can't turn 18 fast enough :)

Zach and Addies bday party

Well today was Addie's 1st birthday and Zach's 3rd birthday party. Needless to say it was a loooong day, but a lot of fun. I decided to do a carousel cake for Addie and Lightning McQueen for Zach( he picked it) and they took forever. Not so much Zach's cake, but Addie's. It took me 2 nights to paint the carousel and have it look decent and about an hour and a half to decorate it, but it is worth it for my kids.

I love doing my kids parties even though a lot goes into them and it can get stressful. And I know they don't understand the time and money that goes into the cakes, but it makes them happy to see them. And I know when they get older and look back at the pictures they will appreciate it. I was worried this morning since everyone was up early, and Addie barely napped, Zach did not nap, and the kids were a little moody but they all behaved really well at the party and had fun playing with their little friends.

And of course the presents!!!! The moment we got there and Zach saw his first present getting put on the table he was set to open everything. I think he asked me at least 50 times if it was time to open the presents. He has figured out how much fun it is to open gifts. I mean I am 30 and I still love getting presents from people! And he ripped through them as fast as he could. Alex helped ( well opened) Addie's for her and she seemed more interested in the paper than anything else.

They got a lot of great toys and clothes from everyone and came open and started playing with everything before bed. Addie only played for about 15 minutes because she was exhausted and passed right out. Zach we let stay up a little later than normal so he could build train tracks and try out his new truck and everything else, but once his head hit the pillow he also passed right out. And for now we get a little break until Alex's birthday in March. Usually I just do a little something on his birthday and then a big party in May when the weather is better and we can be outside, but after today he has lots of ideas in mind for gifts he wants and also cakes he wants. And I am sure his party will be just as fun as the little ones was today!

Alex Lost a tootth!

Well last night was a big night in the Darrow household! Alex lost his first tooth. Although it might have been more of me pulling it out than it just falling out but either way it is out. His bottom 2 teeth have been loose since before Christmas... and I mean really loose. We thought for sure that he would lose them by Christmas or New Years at the latest, but no. And the worst part was that his adult teeth have grown in.
So on Tuesday we had a dentist appointment and she showed me how to put him in a head lock and pull them out. Obviously she has never tried to put a 5 Yr old in a headlock and yank out teeth.
So On Tuesday night Rob and I had him laying across us holding one of our hands and one of us holding his head while we tried EVERYTHING! No luck. Last night I wiggles and wiggled and told him him I was going to yank it out. He asked if it was going to hurt and I told him he just had to " man up and be brave." And yes I actually said man up to my 5 yr old!
Then 1, 2, 3 yank and the tooth was out! He was sooooo excited. I asked if it hurt and he said no because he had maned up. HAHA!! He was ginning from ear to ear and so excited to put it under his pillow and get his money from the tooth fairy. I heard she gave him a little extra since the tooth has to be pulled out. All day today he was showing everyone the hole in his mouth and his tooth. ( It was in a plastic bag)
Now it is time for the next tooth to come out! Hopefully he will sit nice for this one and just let me yank!

Addie is 1!!!!

Dear Addelyn,

Today you are 1!!! Time has flown by this past year! When you were born you were the little peanut of the family at only 6lbs 12oz. But my my my how you have grown.

Right from the start you have been such a easy going baby and to this day we still get compliments about how good and easy you are. You have a great demeanor and are as happy as can be. Although if one of your brothers takes a toy from you you let everyone know! You are the first kid to have started walking before your 1st birthday which was amazing to see. Everyday you get better and better.

You are great at playing with toys and are perfectly content with playing by yourself, but the minute someone sits on the floor you come right over to them and climb on them. You have a adorable laugh that comes from the bottom of your belly all the way up that is very contagious and makes everyone smile. You love to give big slobbery kisses to everyone on the cheek and also snuggle any chance you get. This past year has been amazing and you truly are a great addition to our family! I love you dearly!
Love

Letter to Zachary

Dear Zach,

Today you are 3!!! I can not believe how fast time has flown by these last few years. It seems like just yesterday you were our little Buddha baby, so quiet and calm. Since day 1 you have been very interested in EVERYTHING your big brother Alex is doing and have not stopped. You follow him everywhere and HAVE to do or have what he is having.
Its been so wonderful watching you grow from a little 7lb baby into a 30lb boy who is always on the go. You love love love your trains and trucks, but will snuggle in bed and read books or watch cartoons with me any chance you get. You are very sweet and always so polite with your thanks yous and pleases.
Last year when Addelyn was born you became a big brother as well and you love to let everyone know Addie is your baby and you will protect her no matter what. I love seeing you figure things out everyday and sometimes you amaze me with what you know. You are very independent and love to do things by yourself. Whether it is building a train track or just putting on your boots you let everyone know that you can do it and do not need help. You have more energy than anyone I have ever met, and although you are usually very sweet you defiantly have your mothers stubborn side as well.
These past few years have been wonderful and I can not wait to see what this next year brings with the start of preschool. I love you very much and no matter how old you are you will always be my little Zachy Zachs!
Love,
Mom

VEGAS 2011!!!

Well for my 30th birthday Rob took me to Vegas! I know I have the best husband ever, but besides that it was AWESOME!!! Rob and I both love Vegas. We love to gmable, to love to drink, we love to have time as just the 2 of us ( with 3 kids thats hard to find)and we just love to travel.
Our hotel room was amazing like always. This time we stayed in a different Hilton that was more in the middle of the strip and it was a great location. Our jacuzzi was huge and very relaxing, and our bed was super comfy. We also got to meet up with our freinds Bill and Kelly who live in Vegas and had a couple nights out with them.
We of course did some gambling, a lot of drinking, and had some late nights but it was a blast. We found out that O'Shays does beer pong so that was a must do and Sunday night we played that for a few hours after some blackjack and craps.
I love our vacations, and feel every couple with kids should try to take at least 1 a year without the children. Its so nice to have adult conversations for a few days without being interuppted constantly or having to go change a diaper. :)
We are already planning another trip for next may or june and will be putting money to the side so we have even more to gamble with. Maybe I will when my millions next time. As for this time I came home 50 bucks poorer than when I left but who cares, it was still a blast!

Holy Crap I am 30!

Its true... I am 30 years old today! How insane is that??? I am excited and a little sad about it. I mean I did so much in my 20's! I had a great time partying and being young, I got engaged and married to my high school sweetheart, I had 3 kids, I bought a house and a couple cars. Alex started kindergarten so I offically became a mom with a kid in school as well as going to my first PTO meeting. My 20's were great. I met a lot of people and some of my closest friends in my 20's, but now we say goodbye 20's and hello 30's!
I have heard that the 30's are some of the best years in a womans life. Why??? I have no idea but it can't hurt to find out. :)I know I am done having kids, but I also know that we will be buying a larger nicer house since we have outgrown ours. We will possibly move if Rob gets relocated. We also have our first big family vacation coming up in March to San Diego for 8 days ( wish us luck for the plane ride) and then Disney in 2013! In 2 weeks we will be celbrating Zach turning 3 and my baby Addelyn turning 1. It will be our last first birthday ever. :( Exciting but sad. So far 30 doesn't look so bad!

Happy New Year!

Well last night kicked off our annual tradition of having Aaron, Sarah and Elle come over for New years. We always order some chinese food, have some drinks, play some games and enjoy each others company. And last night was no different. I have never been a fan of going out on New years. After all it really is a amaturs holiday, and I would rather be safe in my home than on the road with a bunch of drunk drivers.
We decided this year we would let the kids hang out and see if they could make it to midnight. No one did.
We put Addie to bed at the usual time, because really she has no idea whats going on. Zach and Elle played for a few hours and Zach hadn't been feeling great so he crashed around 9:30. Ell laid on the couch and was out about an hour later and by 11 Alex was sleeping. I think he would have made it except he was in a winter camp all week from 8-6 everyday and then yesterday from 8-1 so I think he was just exhausted!
Overall it was a fun night. Rob and I kicked ass in hockey, like always, the kids had fun and the best part was that everyone slept in a little later this morning.
Hope everyone else had a good new years!
