I know a lot of parents feel that anytime they are in the car or at home the only music the kids shoudl listen to are kids cds! That is not me at all! Don;t get e wrong we have a few but really how many times can someone listen to "Stickey Stickey bubble gun" before they completly lose their mind!
We also have a cd that Alex use to love with a song about Jack and Jill on it. When I first took him to Colorado at age 2 we drove out there and I swear I almost threw that cd out of the car in Nebraska.
So in my car we listen to 101.9 a lot and Alexs favorite Nickelback. Many people might say that a 5 yr old shoudln't listen to Nickelback, but there are only certain songs I let him listen to and Rockstar is his favorite. Maybe it is because Kelly and I taught him to do rockstar fingers. Or because last year when we went out to Colorado we forgot all my cds and listened to rockstar like 5000 times. Or maybe because he is just like his mom and loves good music!
Fun little blog for family and friends to hear about our daily lives and what the kids and I do all day long. Also a place for me to complain if needed :)

Not so little anymore!
It is amazing how fast a kid can go from being a toddler to being a little kid. If you are a parent you know exactly what I mean. Its like in a blink of an eye they are little people and not babies or toddlers anymore. Thats how my Zachy Zach is now days. He is a walking, talking, little man, with a big adorable personality. And today he got his first "real" haircut so he looks even more like a little man now!

It is amazing how fast time goes by with kids and how fast they grow up right in front of you. I can't believe that in a little over 6 months he will already be 3 and a day later Addie will already be 1! And then 2 months later Alex will be 6! Scary thought! Everyday they grow and change so much and I am afraid that if I blink I might miss something! But then again I also can not wait for the fun things to come as they get older. Oh and catching up on some sleep when they are teenagers and learn how much fun sleeping till noon really is! :)

pool parties and BBQs
Really that is what summer is all about. Hanging out with good friends, having a couple drinks, doing some swimming and having BBQs. Which is exactly what we did today! Aaron's birthday is tomorrow so Rob and I took the boys over to his house to BBQ and swim with him and Sarah and Elle. Addelyn stayed home and hung out with grandpa!
But everyone had fun! Alex figured out that he could jump into the water, go under, kick back up and swim tot he side all by himself. Go Alex! Zach loved squirting the volleyball and me with his alligator water gun. Elle really enjoyed shooting Aaron with it! And after a couple hours in the pool we ate some burgers and had some cake for Aaron's birthday.
Its always nice to hang out with people who have kids as well so the kids can all play while the adults talk. And since Elle and Zach are only 19 days apart, and in an arranged marriage when they get older, its really fun to watch them together! They love playing together and always get very excited when they hear the other one is going to be around. Hopefully their love for each other stays strong as they get older!
All in all it was a great Saturday! I am exhausted, the kids are passed out, so it is yet another one in the win category!

moms club part 2
Well it is almost time to welcome a new memeber to the moms club! One of my olderst friends, Lisa, is about to have her first baby, a little boy! We have been friends since we were 9 yrs old.... thats 20 years people! God I feel old. We met because my family oved in two doors down from her dads and I had to go ask her for a can opener and she told me that they were have cows tongue or heart for dinner!I know good story!
We have had our fights, and people have been hit in the head with a spatula, or have broken someones front door window, but over all these years and all the different paths that our lives have taken we are still friends. And in the next few days or weeks she will finally have her little man here. It has been a long road for her and her husband and I am so excited that they are about to have a new member of the family! I can not wait to meet him and hold him, and of course get my baby fix. Not to mention a little playmate for Addie since they will be about 5 and a half months apart! And then Lisa can also join in on playdates, zoo trips, park trips, etc....
Hopefully baby doyle does not make her wait much longer!!!!!

Dear Asshole
This is for the asshole that was behind me at Meijer while I was in self checkout. Maybe you did not notice the 5 yr old bagging my groceries, or the 5 month old chillin in the cart, or the 2 yr old standing right next to me. And maybe you were to stupid to realize that since you only have 5 maybe 6 items you could have used the 12 items or fewer lanes. And if you had looked for a moment you would have realized ALL 4 of those lanes were indeed open.
But no. Your dumbass came and got in line behind me and gave me a dirty look while I paid. Then as I proceeded to help Alex finsish bagging the groceries you decided that you just had to scan your items and send them down the belt while I still had groceries there. Then when I made a comment about you being impatient you proceeded to push the cart into my already crabby 2 yr old.
Well your an asshole and you are lucky I had my kids with me otherwise you would have heard a mouth full and none of the words would have been very pleasant!

Why my kid is a genius!
So yesterday Zach was watching Super Why on Robs computer while I cooked dinner. For those of you who have not been to my house Robs computer is in the dining room so you can see and hear it from the kitchen.
Anyways Zach was watching his show which basically tells stories and also teaches kids about spelling. At the end of the show they show three words and ask the kids to pick the words. The first word Zach had to find was quiet. I asked him which one was quiet and he pointed right to it. The second word was tall. I asked him which one was tall and he pointed right to that one! The third one was small. I asked him to point and again he did. 3 for 3! Not to shabby for a 2 year old. So not only can he count to 20, spell his name, and know his letters now he reads.... well kind of :) I still say he is pretty smart. Maybe it is something with being the middle child... I have heard they are the coolest! :)

My little athlete!
Everyone always thinks their kids are the best at everything but in my case its true. :) Alex is a super athlete, and I gotta say I think he gets it from me. Not to toot my own horn but back in the day I was pretty good at sports.
Anyways he was hitting a pitch by age 2 as well as hitting a golf ball by age 2. For anyone who has ever played golf it is a hard sport, not to mention frustrating. He has also been very good at basketball for as long as I can remember. Then came the bike riding. We bought him a bike with training wheels and not even a month later the training wheels were off.
This summer we conquered swimming in just 6 trips to the pool and now we are onto rock climbing. The first time he tried he was a little scared and did not go very far up and I thought maybe we found something he might take time to learn. WRONG!!!! Today we tried again. The first time we went half way up and the second time he made it almost to the top. He had a couple more steps and would have been there. So for now I will say rock climbing in also in the win category! His uncle Matt would be so proud! Maybe next winter we will conquer skiing in Jackson Hole! :)

Time to Complain!
Here are some things I hate...
1. People who bring their kids out shopping in hot weather wearing only a diaper, or just pants and no shirt. that's called being trashy and just because you are trashy does not mean your kids have to be. Put the baby in a onesie and put a shirt on your older children.
2. Women who wear bikinis and hav etheir stomachs hanging over the bottom. Thats great that you THINK you look good, but you do not! There is a reason we have one piece suits.
3. On that the people who actually can wear a bikini right after having a kid, or after having multiple kids. It is just not fair to the rest of us, but props to you for getting back in shape!
4. People who can not afford the children they have but kepp having more. I know we need more space for our kids, but we can also AFFORD everything they could ever want or need and can AFFORD a new and larger house we just have to be able to rent or sell ours
5. People who bitch about how hard parenthood is. Did you think raising 1 or more children would be a walk in the park? Of course it is challenging but it is much more rewarding.
6. People who act like their kids are perfect and NEVER do anything wrong. Anyone who has a kid or who has been around kids knows that is impossible. There is no such thing as a perfect kid so man up and admit it when your kid is being a brat!
7. People who think they are better than everyone else. They think they are ALWAYS right and no matter what anyone else says or does they will never be as good or right!
8.People who wear clothes that are way to small... sorry but if you have a belly buy a bigger shirt and if you can not breathe in your pants go up a size. I don;t want to see your shit hanging all over or sqeeezed into pants that are obviously making it hard for you to breathe or bend over without ripping them.
9. People who make comments about me having 3 kids. I'm 29, not 18! I can afford them, I am a good mom and not to mention what buisness is it of yours anyways!
10. Being called thick. What is that??? A nice way to call me fat? I might not be a size 2-4 anymore but I also do not work out at least 4 hrs a day. I have had 3 kids by c-section and I'm sorry that I have put on weight. If you do not like the way I look than turn the other way!

Fantastic Friday!
Today was a good day. Even though it is only 2:30 and can still go downhill so far it has been a lot of fun. I have been juggling with the idea of taking all 3 kids to the pool by myself and today was the day I did it. I will give credit where credit is due.... my friend Jen was there as well with her kids and she did watch Alex while I changed the 2 little ones and Zach while I checked on Addie napping.
I originally dropped Zach and Addie of at the child care center and then took Alex swimming for about an hour. I know he does not get enough one on one time and swimming is something we have a lot of fun doing together.
At noon when it was adult swim I left Alex with Jen and went and got the little ones and put their suits on and we were off. At first I just sat in the shallow end with Addie and Zach but Addelyn was fading fast so I decided to give her a bottle and let her crash in the stroller. Passed out within 10 mins! Zach loves the water and he has no fear. This kid will run and jump, doesn't mind going underwater, loves kicking his feet and swimming etc...
All in all a great Friday so far! Everyone had a lot of fun and no tantrums so I will put it in the win category. It is days like these that are the reason I love being a mom!

Why kids are great

Why 5 yr olds are great...
1. They ask some of the funniest and most random questions ever
2. You can have a conversation with them and they fully understand ( depending on the topic)
3. They remember everything. I can't remember anything so Alex is my go to person
4. Great hugs, kisses and I love yous!
5. They tell really good stories. Some might be really really long, but they are interesting
6. All they want to do is learn
7. They love to help clean....bonus points in my book
8. They sleep in.... good for any parent
9. They are fully potty trained... granted this usually happens between 2 and 3... but it is still a nice thing to have a kid that can just get up and go to the bathroom on their own
10. Even when you are mad at them they can say something or do something that makes you laugh every time you think about it.

Why 2 yr olds are great...
1. The still love to cuddle
2. They think they are so much older than they really are
3. They are at the cute point where they are not babies/toddlers anymore but they are not full blown kids ( kind of hard to explain)
4. They think tantrums will get them something when really all they do is make me laugh
5. They have very cute random sayings
6. They have adorable laughs
7. They are learning to be somewhat independent
8. They still want to listen and please for the most part ( although they have their moments)
9. They are very content if you just give them a train or a truck
10. They start sleeping in more :)

Why babies are great....
1. They smile every time you talk to them.... no matter what you say they are happy
2. The way they nuzzle their heads into you to sleep
3. They smell good
4. They think you are hilarious no matter what you are talking about
5. They do not talk back :)
6. When they hit a milestone it is all they want to do until they hit the next one
7. You get to fully watch their personalities develop right in front of you
8. They make good cuddle buddies while sleeping or just sitting around
9. They have really cute laughs
10. They are great travel companions... just put them in the car seat, grab a diaper bag and you are off
This might not apply to all kids but it defiantly applies to mine. Those are just a few reasons I think my kids are great. And of course the biggest reason is because they are MY kids. And everyone thinks their kids are the greatest,it just so happens that mine REALLY are. :)

Its one of THOSE days!!!
So Alex had a cough about a week ago which was then passed onto Zach and Addie. Welcome to having more than one kid :) Last night Addie had a very low fever and was coughing a little so I worried that today she might not feeling well.
Well this morning she woke up and when I went to change her she had left me a very nice blow out diaper with shit( poop just doesn't explain the look and smell)everywhere. All over her legs, up her back, in her jammies. And there she was laying at me smiling and laughing. So far not the best morning but it could be worse.
So we head off to the gym after breakfast and Zach is being a little crabby, but he is 2 which means he has more mood swings than a women with horrible PMS. I work out for a little and go to pick up the kids. Zach was very sleepy so that means even more crabby.
We head off to Sams club and I tell Alex that if he is good than after we get what we need we will have lunch and then maybe meet Ben at the pool andhave a fun afternoon. Well I guess Zach ahd different plans.
At the store he told me that his tummy hurt. So as I am pushing a oversized cart, with three kids in it I am also rubbing his tummy. We get in the car and I tell Alex no pool today because I think Zach just needs to rest and get well. So we are about 2 minutes from home if that, and BARF!!!!! Zach throws up all over his carseat, clothes, hands etc....
Get home I take the kids upstairs, change Zach and clean him off and lay him down. Don't even have the door closed and BARF all over his bed. Strip the bed, strip the kid, start the laundry, put him down and now he is sleeping.
This is just another one of those fun days that no matter how many parenting books you read you will never find a chapter one. :) For now I am off to hang with Alex and pray that Zach is feeling better when he wakes up!

My baby girl!

This was Addie when she was first home from the hospital. Soooooo little! And Addie the other day. So big! On Friday my little miss will already be 5 months! it is amazing how fast time flies when you have kids but it seems like every time you have another kid time goes by even faster. And you can totally tell the difference between the first born, second, and third. Alex crawled early.. right after he turned 5 months, talked early( and has not stopped since) but walked late. Zach was pretty much a by the book kind of kid, except he did start walking at 9 months. As for my Addelyn she rolled at 3 months( early), is pretty close to getting up on all fours and I would not be surprised if she talks early because she always looks like she has something to say.
I'm pretty sure he first sentence will probably be telling the boys they are crazy, because i tell her that all the time. And lets face it my boys are crazy. But they are also adorable! And all she wants to do is sit. She has been trying to sit for the past couple months. And time you put her in a bouncy seat, on the bed, or in her swing all she does is try to sit up. Especially in the bouncy seat. She grabs the toys and pulls herself up to sitting.
I'm sure it will be January before we know it and we will be celebrating her first birthday. They start so little but get so big so fast. I feel like every time I have had a baby you see it and forget how little they really are. I love to watch her make all these milestones, along with the boys making theirs, but it is bitter sweet. It is sad to know that she is my last and we will never have a baby in the house again after she grows up. But on the other hand it will be fun when she starts gymnastics( yes she will start at 12 months) and then diving when she is older. I just hope she is not a girly girl. I can not handle that! I figure she can wear dresses until she is 3 and then she will be playing football with her brothers.
I am excited to watch all my kids grow up and hopefully turn into good people, but until then I am having fun playing with trucks, trains, blocks and building sand castles. As all parents know time goes by way to fast so enjoy the time you have because before you know it they will be all grown up.

Girls day out!
So yesterday some of my friends and I decided to leave our kids, husbands, fiances and boyfriends at home and have a fun girls day downtown. It was a very nice "break" from everyday life of diaper changes, bottles, tantrums etc....
We did the architecture boat tour, which was very cool. Of course we had some drinks on the boat and sat right by the bar, because lets face it we all love to drink. We then went to a pub for lunch, had some good conversation, some more drinks and a all around good time. After lunch we all crammed, and I mean crammed into a cab and headed over to the art fest. While their we saw some art, had another drink, got poured on and then a few of us headed back to the "L"
That in itself was an adventure since Kelly might of had one to many drinks, but hopefully people on the L found her more amusing than annoying. If not, oh well, not like we will ever see them again. It was a very fun, relaxing day. Of course I came home to dirty dishes, and a messy living room, but I just see that as the kids had fun and Rob remembered to feed them.

The Mothers Club
Its amazing what being pregnant and having kids can do for your social life. It seems like once you are a mother you are in a whole new "club." Not to mention it can bring you back together with old friends and also introduce you to new friends, just because you now both have kids.
When I was in high school I had a freind named Sarah. We hung out a lot during my sophomore ( her frosh) and my junior year and then when I became a senior we just kind of drifted apart and went our own ways. We reconnected when Alex was about 2 and a few months later when I got pregnant with Zach she found out she was also pregnant. We spent a lot of time together while pregnant, which was always fun and interesting to see the looks we would get. ( Did I forget to mention we look A LOT a like) I had Zach on January 17, 2008 and ninetenn days later on Feburary 5 she gave birth to Elianna. Needless to see we spend a lot of weekends together with our kids. And if we hadn't had them so close together who knows where our friendship would be.The kids really helped us reconnect and gave us just one more thing we have in common, besides are good looks. :)
Another example of this mother club introducing you to people is my friend Jen. We went to high school togther as well but I don't think we ever had a class together or even spoke a word to each other in high school. A couple years ago some of us decided to get together for a playdate and Jen was there. We started talking and realized that we only live about 10 minutes from each other, if that.We get along really well, the kids get along really well, and at times I wonder why we never hung out in high school. But I also know that if we weren't both moms we never would have crossed paths and began this freindship.
For those of you with kids you probably understand what I am talking about when I say there is a moms club. For those of you who are pregnant, once you have your little one you will understand. Life will be full of playdates, zoo trips, doctor appointments, splash pad trips etc... and you will find that suddenly you are talking to new people, or people you have known but never really had anything in common with until now. Its amazing what kids can do for your social life. Many people say having kids ruin your social life but I like to think they just change it up a bit. Instead of talking to people at a bar over a beer, you now are having conversations atthe park over some juice boxes.

What my childen have taught me
Becoming a mother was something I always wanted to do. I knew it would not be easy, but I knew the good would outway the bad. Although along this crazy road called parenthood my children have taught me some lessons that I did not think of before hand.
1. You will never go to the bathroom alone! Even if you lock the door you will have someone knocking on it or crying on the otherside.
2. Once a kid learns how to talk they do not stop! From the minute they wake up until they go to sleep your ears will not get any rest!
3. Along with the talking you will be asked 5 billion questions throughout the day.
4. Just because they love a certain food this week does not mean they are going to like it next week
5. It only takes about 1 minute ( if that) for a big mess to be made
6. If your house is quiet, as much as you are enjoying it, it is probablt a sign that the kid(s) are doing something they should not be doing
7. Kids are smarter than you think, especially the first born. Everytime you think you can trick them they will prove you wrong
8. Kids have amazing memories....and they will not let you forget ANYTHING!!!!
9. No matter how small, short, skinny your kid(s) are they will find a way to take up an entire king size bed so that you have no where to sleep
10. And last but not least they have energy that never ends. Kids can go and go and go and go and go and go..... and just when you think they should be worn out they will surprise you and keep going!
Those are just a few things I have learned from my children. But tomorrow is a new day which means there could be a new lesson to be learned. I do not think being a parent is hard, but I do think it is tiring, stressful, fun, and something I wouldn't trade for anything. There are days I laugh all day at/with my kids and there are days that I would love to grab at cold beer by 10am. But this is the path I choose and I am happy with it, my kids are happy, and at the end of the dya that is really all that matters.

Time to brag :)
Well for those who know me I was an athlete back in the day. I did gymnastics for about 10 years along with soccer. In high school I also did diving all 4 yrs and track for a year. Then college came and I was a super star in partying :) I guess thats not really a sport but it was a fun time.
I have always wanted kids who were in sports. And now that I have my girl she will be starting gymnastics when she is 1 yr old with mommy and me classes and diving when she is about 5 or 6 and can swim. And no she will not be a cheerleader because that is NOT a sport!
Now to get to the bragging! I am pretty sure that Alex has inherited my athletic ability. By age 2 he was hitting pitches in baseball, with a metal bat. He was also hitting golf balls pretty well. At 4 we bought him a bmx bike thinking he would be using training wheels for at least a year. WRONG!!!! Couple months and he was done with the training wheels and I was regretting buying a BMX bike because I know he will be doing flips in no time. This year I wanted to teach him how to swim. I've never taught swimming but I figured since my mom taught all of us I would teach my kids. The first day I tried I realized it was going to be harder than I thought. I was going to have my friend Lauren help me but with our busy lives it is hard to get together.
Today I took Alex to the pool again. It was the 6th time we have been there since in about 3 weeks. And low and behold my 5yr old swam around the whole pool, underwater all by himself. He came up for breaks but hes swimming. It is not the pretties of strokes but hey hes 5 and it gets the job done. Go Alex!

busy day
So yesterday I met up with a couple of my freinds and their kids at Ty Warner. 3 adults and 6 kids ages 5,4,3,2, 18 months and 4.5 months means lots of fun and lots of chasing the little ones. The kids all had a blast and I was able to get some sun and adult conversation so all around it was a good day.
On our way home we of course got stuck in traffic. I had to get home to get Alex in his uniform for his t-ball game and get him to his game by 6. Did not happen... he was 15 mins late, but luckily they were just about to start when we got there. As I was stuck in a dead stop on 22nd I kept looking at my clock and looking at the traffic and was getting annoyed that we had not moved in 10 minutes. Now if you know me you know I hate being late, so sitting in traffic when I have somewhere to be is not my favorite thing to do! So as I am cursing the traffic in my head I suddenly hear the biggest laugh out of my little girl and it just put a huge smile on my face. Zach was sitting there playing pee a boo with her and she just thought her brother was the funniest thing ever. It put the biggest smile on my face.
Usually I can not tell if she is laughing at her brothers because she thinks they are funny or because she thinks they are crazy, but I pretty sure yesterday she thought it was because he was funny. Just goes to show you that no matter how stressful life or kids can be, it only takes a second for them to pur a smile on your face and turn the day around!
