So yesterday the kids and I decided to enjoy the beautiful weather by taking a trip to a park they have never been too. Yes, that is one of the things we do around here. We adventure out in hopes of finding new parks!
So we headed to Glen Ellyn and went to a park on Main Street. And I was sitting on the bench watching the boys play in the sand and listening to two ladies talk. Apparently one knew the others sister in law and they started talking about their kids. They each had two boys around 4 yrs old and toddlers ( we will say 18-22 months) Both these ladies were older than me. One was in her 40's and the other in her late 30's. And suddenly I heard one say " she makes it look so easy with her kids." And I almost started laughing.
Here I am at 29, holding my 7 month old and watching my 2.5 yr old and 5 yr old play in the sand with the other kids and I am thinking is this really hard? Are there days that suck, of course, but isn't that true with any job? Are there days that are exhausting? Yes. But really people this whole parent thing is NOT impossible.
Of course there are days where I think my children's only purpose is to drive me insane, but they are kids. And they go through phases and for the most part I think I am pretty good at rolling with the punches. Here's my new rule. If you think one is hard, you are an idiot and should Not have another. If you think 2 are hard don't have a third. If you think three is hard don't have a fourth and so on and so on. I am one of those crazy people that actually think the more kids the easier it gets. I would have loved to have twins or triplets but I am happy with the three I have. Although given the chance I would have a fourth :)
If you go into parenthood thinking it is going to be all smiles and sunshine all the time than you never should of had a kid. There are days that are going to be horrible and days that will be great, and everything in between. That's called parenthood and life! Get use to it!
