Fall is in full swing around here. The weather is cooler and perfect for hoodies and slippers...which I love!! The trees are changing colors...another thing I love! And it is almost October!!! Which means our weekends are still going to be busy. We still have a few more football games left for Alex. We also have the open house at the fire station which we go to every year. If you have boys I highly suggest it. They love it. They love climbing on the firetrucks, running the obstacle course and of course watching a car get taken apart by the jaws of life. And I don't mind spending a few hours around some good looking guys in uniform. :)
We also have the pumpkin farm so the kids can pick their pumpkins and we can carve them. I think this year we might try a new one, but I am not sure yet. And with pumpkins we also have Halloween costumes to do. I have to order Zach and Addies online, and I am hoping we can just get Alexs at the store. I can not wait for Halloween this year. We will once again be trick or treating with Sarah and Elle but Sarahs parents house and then heading to Phillies for pizza.
And of course Boo in the Zoo.We go every year with a few of our friends and its awesome to see all the kids dressed in their costumes. There are different activities for the kids to do..their favorite being driving the cars. Plus there are decorations all over the zoo and usually a goodie bag for the kids when they leave. It has become a tradition for us and is a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. Overall October looks like it will be just as busy as September was for us. Hopefully November will give us a little more down time, but I know once the snow comes there will be lots of sledding and snow boarding for us.
Fun little blog for family and friends to hear about our daily lives and what the kids and I do all day long. Also a place for me to complain if needed :)

Hello Life....
Have you ever had that feeling like time is just flying by and you don't have time to stop and smell the roses? That's where we are right now. I feel like everyday is the same with a few differences...basically football or preschool. You would think as kids get older things would be easier and in some way they are.
When the kids are young, or its summer, everyday is a free day to do whatever you want. We go to the pool, hand at the park, go to the zoo, have some lazy days etc...But now that the school year is here that freedom is over. Granted I still have it a few times a week but it is still cut short because I have to be home in time for Alex to get off the bus from school.
And between football practice, games, Rob traveling, homework, making lunches, making dinner, cleaning, the kids, errands etc...sometimes it is just exhausting. And sometimes you forget to just live life. To have fun, to spend time with your spouse and to let the dishes sit in the sink so you can play with the kids before bed.Rob and I realized that this what happening to us. When he would get home from work, sometimes not till 8 I would want him to help with bedtimes, Alex and getting stuff ready for the next day. He would want to veg for a bit. Which I get.
But now we seem to have a good routine. We have figured out that if we tag team everything when it comes to the kids at night it takes half the time. ( I know we are geniuses)But we also make sure that we are spending time with eachother every night. Sometimes we go out, usually we stay in but we have that time. Where there are no kids. No interruptions. Just us. And adult conversation...
Sometimes life can get the best of you,but you have to remember to just breathe. And remember your spouse and make that time for eachother. And even make time so the other one can go out and let loose with their friends and vice versa. Just because we are parents doesn't mean we still cant have fun. It doesn't mean that we have to forget why we fell in love. And it doesn't mean we have to let all the kid crap and everyday life get in the way. It just means we have to rearrange our lives a little to fit everything in.

Wedding Weekend!!!
What a busy couple of days. Two of our close friends got married last night and 4 of the 5 of us were in the wedding. And to make things even crazier Rob, who was the best man, also had class all weekend for his masters! Needless to say we are all very tired today and sadly with football and class we can not relax as much as we would like.
Friday I ran around with Sarah, the bride, finishing last minute things and getting our nails done. We also had the rehearsal that night and rehearsal dinner, which we left early because we had to make sure the boys got some sleep since they were in the wedding last night.
Yesterday was a little more juggling the kids, and who had which kids and till what time. I went with my sister in law to get our hair done and then headed to Sarah's parents house, where her mom thought I was her.( Seriously I am so use to it it doesn't phase me, but it is quite funny when our parents even mistake us.) As I headed upstairs to meet Sarah I was once again mistaken for her, but this time by her sister.
The wedding went off perfectly. The kids cooperated!!! And Zach and Elle stole the hearts of everyone when they walked down the aisle together!

Just picture that in about 25 years when it is their wedding!!! All the kids were cuteness overload!!! The reception was also a blast. The kids had a great time on the dance floor, along with all the adults. Plus you can not really go wrong when there is open bar and they are making strong mixed drinks!!!Overall it was a great couple of days. LOOOOOOng and exhausting but worth it!!! Congrats Aaron and Sarah!!!

Zachs future wife
Have you met Zachs future wife Eliana...or as we call her Ellie. These 2 are 19 days apart and have been hanging out since Elle was born on Feb 5, 2008..no seriously he came to the hospital with me for their first date. :)

Look its their first lunch date out...only they slept most of the time!! They have grown up together and it has been awesome watching both of them grow and interact with eachother.

They learned to crawl, walk, talk and talk back together. They love seeing eachother and have had a relationship full of hugs and kisses and fights as well.

Not only is it great that they are buddies but its a lot of fun having one of your friends have a kid right around the same time as you. Makes playdates fun for kids and moms!!!We do a lot together with the kids...Boo in the zoo, Christmas,New Years, birthdays, fourth of July etc...they are always together...gotta start traditions early!

I like to think of them as a old married couple. They have their moments where they really love eachother and are having so much fun and then they have their moments where all they want to do is kill eachother. They fight over toys, or when someone is in a bad mood, but they also love eachother and will hug and kiss and makeup!I can not wait for their wedding...of course they both have to be in their 20's and graduated from college...until then their relationship will just grow as it has over the last 4 years.

I think we can all agree its true love!!! And don't they make such a cute couple!

Full Blown Toddler!

See this cute little face. She looks so sweet and so innocent but she has become a full blown toddler...also known as a pin in the ass :)
Sure shes cute. Shes sweet. But she is opinionated. She knows what she wants and a lot of times she uses words to tell you. Milk, up, box(juice box),monkey, bye, shoes, outside etc....but then there are times when she just yells. And she is loud. If she doesn't get her way she gets MAD! Or if one of the boys takes something she gets pissed.Although I have a feeling she is going to give them a run for their money.
Shes feisty for sure. She loves running around with Zach while Alex is at school but she also loves taking the train he is playing with( because the 50 other Thomas trains aren't good enough)She is called DQ in this house because she is a DRAMA QUEEN!!!! Right now her favorite thing is opening the fridge and freezer and grabbing things. We have tried every child proof lock( yeah those are a joke) and she figures them out in minutes. I guess I should be happy that she is smart(I have friends who couldn't figure them out) but its a pain. I have to make sure there is nothing in the door of the freezer because she will grab it and dump it. I have to bring her with me when I shower or go to the bathroom just so I don't have to worry about her getting into it.
She loves being outside. Especially going on slides at the park...everytime she goes down she says weeeeeeeee....and she loves just walking around and exploring. Toddlerhood is a great stage and a fun stage but it is also a pain in the ass stage for most parents. I'm sad that she is almost 2 but I am ready for some of the toddler crap to end!

9-11
As we all know tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of 9-11.I'm sure we all remember where we were that day or what we were doing. Rob and I were living in our apartment in Carbondale and had slept until 12 or 1pm that day. I jumped on the computer and he headed off to work and I was messaging with my friend MaryKay. She asked if I had heard about what happened and I said no and she told me.Of course the tv went on right away and I started watching all the coverage.
Rob and I have been watching a lot of the specials that have been on lately. Most are survivors talking about what they went through trying to get out of the building they were in. One was talking about 2 men who were able to save 77 people before dying in the North tower. They were on the 87th floor when the plane hit and they found the exit and helped people to the stairwell. Then when everyone was making their way down they went up and were able to save people on the 88,89,and 90th floor before the smoke got to bad and they could not go any higher. They made their way down and helped a colleague escape from a elevator on the 76th floor but sadly all 3 were later killed when the tower collapsed.
What really amazes me is the stories of all these "everyday" people that risked their lives to help others. I know the fireman and police helped rescue many people and we lost over 300 firefighters and police officers that day but its the bankers, contractors,Realtors etc...that were in that building and were helping others that really makes me think. What would I have done?? I told Rob last night I would have been running my ass down the stairs and pushing anyone who got in my way. But would I really? Could I leave a struggling person on the stairs and just go right by? Or would I stop and grab their hand and help them down?No one knows what they would do in a situation like that and many of us will never have to face something like that, but all these stories really make you think about the type of person you would be, or would want to be in a situation like that.
I feel horrible for the people who lost their spouse, father, mother, child, grandparent etc...that day.I could not imagine being pregnant with Robs child and losing him. Or thinking it was just another day at the office and then fighting for my life.My heart and prayers go out to everyone who lost someone on 9-11 and also to the survivors who had the will to live and fought their way out but also helped others survive and be able to go home to their families that night.

Gymnastics here we come....
As many of you know I was a gymnast back in the day and I still love it. Both my boys have done it and love it and I have been waiting until I can put Addie in it. I am debating about starting now (never too early to train for the Olympics) or wait until she is 2 and then start her. But the girl has no fear and I think she might rule the balance beam!

The girl has no fear!! And she loves doing flips and handstands. Yes she asks to do handstands with me!!! I LOVE it. And I can not wait to see how cute she will be in a leotard!

Addies best friend
This is monkey..

Well that is what he looked like when we first bought him back in January as a birthday present for Addie. Since then he has been LOVED!!! Addie adores him. She runs around with him, sleeps with him, carries him everywhere, pushes him in the stroller and feeds him in her booster seat. He is her "onkey"as she says. This is what he looks like now.

Like I said he has been LOVED. Yesterday we went to the toy store because I wanted to buy one as a baby gift for my friend Courtney. This monkey has magic powers...whenever Addie is upset, crabby, whiny, happy whatever you ask her where monkey is and she forgets everything else, gives a evil little laugh and runs off to get monkey. SO I thought perfect gift. Well there was one left and I tried to sneak it in the cart, but Addie saw it and squealed "onkey"...So now monkey has a friend. (Sorry Courtney)

What can I say...the girl loves her monkey!

Preschool!!!
Today Zach had his first day of preschool!!!

There he is my handsome man! He was soooo excited about FINALLY going to school. He has been asking ever since we started walking Alex to the bus stop last year. And then this year when Alex went back Zach was talking about going to school even more. I know he will love it! He did really well at drop off ( I'm not surprise..I have independent kids)and was more than ready to talk about his day when we picked him up. He was really concerned about getting to play on the playground today and was very happy he got to. AHH the simple mind of a 3 year old.
He is pretty smart already. He knows his shapes, colors, letters, numbers and can even count to 20 in spanish. (thank you Dora and Diego) but I am sure he will learn more while in school. And I am glad that he has something of his own. He will have his own friends there and come home with his stories about what he has done. Its crazy to think we have 2 kids in school now but it is even crazier to think that in a couple years we will have all 3 of our kids in school. They really do grow fast!

Things that irritate me
1. People who bring their kids to the grocery store in only a diaper...put a onesie on the kid!!
2. Idiots on motorcycles without helmets...especially the ones that ride in between the lanes!
3. People who constantly feel the need to tell me how much they love their kid/s on facebook...I think we all know you love your kid/s but we do not need to hear about it ALL.THE.TIME!
4.Bible thumpers...I am glad you are religious, most people are, but you do not need to constantly tell me about GOD.
5.My husband when he doesn't clean up after himself...and my kids when they do the same
6.When you miss a call and then call the person back not even a minute later and then they do not answer...um I know you are by your phone because you just called me!
7.People who complain about being broke all the time but the second they get money they spend a ton on pointless crap...hey I bet I can figure out why you are always broke!
8.Women who can not stand up for themselves but have their husbands fight their battles...if you are pissed off call the person and tell them why!
9.People who complain about others being to blunt..I'm sorry but I am not going to hold your hand through life..you want my opinion I will give it to you and if you don't like it then don't ask next time
10. Hypocrites...need I say more?
11.People who say they can never leave their kids with a sitter because they would miss them too much...I get that you love your kid but every parent needs a break now and then
12. People in relationships that are "afraid" to have actual adult conversations with their partner because it could start a fight. If you can't talk about things how can you have a healthy relationship?
13.My kids when they are crabby
14.Parents that coddle their kids...news flash..theirs a reason they are afraid of EVERYTHING!!!!
15.When I blow dry and straighten my hair and then it rains
16.Teenagers who think they know it all....but then again I am sure I was like that at one point too :)
17.Liars
18.The fact that I can be anywhere on time with 1,2, or 3 of my kids but when Rob is with us we are almost always late...and I HATE being late
19. Bridal showers and baby showers..lets face it they suck unless you are the bride or the one who is pregnant
20. When people who do not have kids try to give me parenting advice...have a baby and then talk to me
21.Stepping on cars, trains, train tracks,or any other kind of toy at any point in time
22.Golfing...its a stupid sport and sucks unless you are drinking..hitting that ball can get frustrating
23.Shopping at walmart..I try and avoid this as much as possible but end up there at least twice a year
24.Cold weather

germs go away!
This week has been filled with sick kids being in my house! It started Monday morning with Zach having a fever of 102.8 which would just not go away! He was so mellow all day, and quiet, and calm and basically the opposite of a 3 year old. I felt so bad for him, but I am not going to lie...I kind of enjoyed the quiet.
Turned out he got croup again! Thanks Chicago weather! So all week he has sounded like a seal with his cough. Finally yesterday he was doing better so I was all excited to take him to the pool today since it was going to be a million degrees outside...once again thanks Chicago weather.
But sure enough my squish monster aka Addie woke up with a fever this morning...and wouldn't you know it she also has croup. So we spent another day being stuck in the house. Good side of it was my house is clean...bad side is everyone, including me, was going stir crazy by 4 pm. So lucky for us Addies fever was gone after nap and we dropped Alex off at football and hit the gym for a hour to get some energy out. Hopefully with a few more nebulizer treatments and the cooler weather coming in this croup will be gone.
However with Zach starting preschool next week who knows what other germs will be brought into this house.
